The animal terrorized a neighborhood in eastern Brazil during a crime spree that lasted several days.

It is accused of biting residents and breaking into homes in Vicosa, Rio Grande do Norte.

Footage shows the chaos-causing capuchin holding a coffee pot before brandishing a knife.

In one instance, the mischievous capuchin was recorded helping a pet bird escape.

A video displays the monkey smashing the bird’s cage against the wall, liberating its feathered accomplice.

Shortly afterward, the animal was finally “apprehended” by the authorities and “jailed”—it can be seen sitting quietly in a cage in the back of a police vehicle.

Residents reported that the monkey had been wreaking havoc in the town since December 12, when it first appeared in the area.

Some of its attacks on homes involved kitchen raids, and several houses were left without power after the rogue capuchin tampered with electrical wiring.

The monkey also bit several locals, according to reports.

Police officers and firefighters made multiple attempts to capture the monkey, but it consistently evaded arrest.

The capuchin was ultimately captured on December 16 after residents managed to contain the animal and contacted the police.

It was taken to the local police station, where it awaits transfer to environmental police for the necessary procedures.

Biologist Keliton Gomes stated that capuchins may approach urban areas due to urban expansion that disrupts their natural habitats or as a consequence of wildlife trafficking.

He cautioned: “It’s essential to avoid contact with the animal, as it can carry diseases that may be transmitted to humans.

“Additionally, contact the environmental police so they can safely and appropriately rescue the animal.”

This follows an incident where a 63-year-old man was bitten to death in his home by an aggressive male macaque.

Pensioner Chaiphum Sae-eung was discovered slumped against the wall with numerous bite marks.

Earlier this year, another monkey attack occurred in Uttar Pradesh, India, where a two-month-old baby was reportedly drowned in a water drum by a group of monkeys after being abducted from his bed.
