Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has accepted a new position with the German Football League (DFL).
The 58-year-old joins the DFL as part of an expert group focused on enhancing German football.

Other notable members include academy manager Jochen Sauer, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche, Nuremberg CEO Joti Chatzialexiou, and St. Pauli chief Andreas Bornemann, along with executives from the German Football Association (DFB) such as Marc Lenz and Andreas Rettig.
The goal is to maintain the competitiveness of German football across all levels, according to DFL managing director Marc Lenz.
He stated: “We believe that the financial, legal, and sporting frameworks must be appropriate to keep the Bundesliga and German football consistently competitive.
“We need to collaboratively draw the right conclusions. The expert group will provide valuable insights in this regard.”
The group will also focus on nurturing young talent and improving club standards throughout the German Football League.
A statement from the governing body noted: “The expert group will address, among other matters, the training and integration of talented players, as well as the further development of club standards and structures.
“Preliminary results will be discussed in the league committees in spring 2026 and subsequently with all 36 clubs.”
Klopp will continue in his role with Red Bull while fulfilling his new responsibilities with the German Football League.
The football icon took on the position of Head of Global Soccer at the company in January.
This means he now oversees teams such as RB Salzburg and New York Red Bulls, and is responsible for the development of young players, along with advising on transfers and managerial appointments.
Klopp recently shared his thoughts on his time away from coaching.
He told The Athletic: “I was extremely pleased with Liverpool's performance.
“I watched some matches, but it wasn't like, ‘Oh, it's Saturday!’
“I had no idea when games started. I was just out enjoying life, participating in sports, spending time with my grandchildren—completely normal activities, knowing I would work again.
“But also knowing that I no longer want to work as a coach.”
