It was his first win after seven successive losses, albeit it was a poor standard with a 89.22 average.

Had the Antrim ace lost again, he would have equalled the eight-game losing streak that Stephen Bunting experienced at the start of the 2025 edition until he started to win in the German capital.

And there was a danger the world No.7 would go on to match the nine-game losing run that Glen Durrant endured before embarrassing elimination in 2021.

Rookie – who lost 6-3 to in the semi-finals – said: “I showed my emotions on stage.

“It was relief – and that’s an understatement.

“I am up there to try and win as best as I can.

“It hasn’t happened in the last seven weeks, so very relieved I got the first win.

“Yes, Jonny didn’t play up to scratch, I didn’t play up to scratch.

“But I was trying too hard to win because I wanted to win more than him – and I proved it in the end.”

Dutchman – who was recently hospitalised with kidney stones which were removed via surgery – lost 6-1 to in the last eight after skipping last week’s event in Dublin.

But Price was once again undone by the brilliance of 6-4 in their semi-final meeting.

And it was the Nuke who would take top spot in Berling with victory over Van Gerwen.

He claimed the 6-4 win with a stunning 170 ‘big fish’ checkout as he made it back-to-back Prem wins and now leads the table.
