Delta State Police have apprehended a 54-year-old man, Edward Ngozi Odega, for allegedly sexually abusing his three daughters over a span of seven years. The victims, whose identities are being protected, are aged 13, 15, and 24.
The suspect, who is currently in police custody, acknowledged that his actions were “the work of the devil” and admitted to violating all three daughters. He also disclosed that he had engaged in sexual activities with friends of his daughters.
The eldest daughter, who is 24, informed reporters that the abuse commenced when she was just 12 and in Primary Six. She stated that she refrained from speaking out earlier because she considered it an unthinkable thing to disclose publicly. She only learned that her two sisters were also victims when the youngest raised an alarm at school, which ultimately led to their father’s arrest.
Another daughter, speaking off-camera, mentioned that she reported the abuse to a classmate after participating in a school outreach and awareness program conducted by CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor.
The suspect was taken into custody by operatives from the Ugborikoko Division of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a video shared with reporters in Warri. He described the case as “truly tragic,” emphasizing that the school outreach program was crucial in empowering the youngest victim to come forward, which led to her father's arrest.
