Iran cleric mocks US for worshipping Spongebob and says they have ‘no heroes’ to kill

An Iranian cleric has mocked the US for worshipping “fictional heroes” such as SpongeBob and Spiderman.

Cleric Shahab Moradi made the bizarre comments after the assassination of the country’s top general Qasem Soleimani at the order of US President Donald Trump .

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei afterwards said a “harsh retaliation is waiting” for America.

However, Moradi believes taking out a similar target will be difficult.

He said: “(In the situation) that we take one of theirs now that they’ve got one of ours — who should we consider to take out in the context of America?

The country’s top general Qasem Soleimani was killed on Friday morning at the order of US President Donald Trump

“Think about it. Are we supposed to take out Spider-Man and SpongeBob?

“They don’t have any heroes. We have a country in front of us with a large population and a large landmass, but it doesn’t have any heroes.

“All of their heroes are cartoon characters — they’re all fictional.”

Soleimani was considered the second most powerful man in Iran before he was taken out on Friday.

One cleric afterwards said the US’ only heroes ‘are cartoon characters’ such as SpongeBob

He was the mastermind behind covert Iranian operations in the Middle East and gave support to enemies of the UK and US.

Iran has reportedly identified 35 targets in the Middle East that it could strike in retaliation.

However, Trump also claimed he had a list of “52 Iranian targets” that he would “hit very fast and very hard” this weekend.

The President tweeted: “If Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, will be hit very fast and very hard.

“The USA wants no more threats!”

Iraqi terrorists have also threatened to turn US airbases in Iraq “to rubble” .

Kataib Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia at the centre of current tensions between Washington and Tehran, made the dire warning.
