The Nigerian government has announced the creation of over 90,160 new jobs through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN.

According to official statements, these jobs were generated in the first quarter of 2025, during which more than 116,000 entrepreneurs were also supported across the country.

The government further disclosed that thousands of small businesses have been formalised and assisted in registering with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

“These businesses are now better positioned to access funding, participate in supply chains, and compete in both local and international markets,”; said Charles Odii, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of SMEDAN, on Tuesday.

Odii added, “This report underscores the impact of our GROW Nigerian strategy, which centres on providing Guidance, Resources, Opportunities, and Workforce support to small businesses nationwide.”;

Reaffirming SMEDAN’s commitment to national development, Odii stated, “Our work aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises strengthening foundational structures and investing in initiatives that deliver tangible impact. With the right framework and sustained support, Nigerian SMEs have the potential to drive enduring, inclusive economic growth.”;
