Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has ruled out any possibility of club captain Bruno Fernandes leaving Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
Amorim made the comments during his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United’s UEFA Europa League semi-final clash with Athletic Club on Thursday.
The Portuguese manager stated that the Red Devils intend to retain the midfielder beyond the summer, emphasising his leadership role within the team.
“He is a leader, the captain. It is natural that people want Bruno, but we want to keep him at Man United,”; Amorim said at his pre-match press conference as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“He is one of the top players of the world,”; he added.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly open to selling all but four first-team players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The club is preparing for a significant squad overhaul, with Amorim determined to bring in his own signings after a disappointing start to his time at Old Trafford.
United were in 14th place when Amorim left Sporting Lisbon to replace Erik ten Hag in November. However, they now sit 15th in the Premier League with only three matches remaining this season.
