“Nine Puzzles”; has unveiled an in-depth character spotlight, diving into the psychological layers of its two leads!
“Nine Puzzles”; is a mystery thriller that follows the story of profiler Yoon Yi Na (Kim Da Mi), who was the only witness in an unsolved case from 10 years ago, and detective Kim Han Saem (Son Suk Ku), who still believes her to be a suspect, as they unearth the secrets of a new serial murder case that begins with a mysterious puzzle piece.
The video first delves deeper into Yoon Yi Na’s psyche, who was both the only witness and a suspect in her uncle’s murder a decade ago. Kim Da Mi describes her character as someone “whose mind and emotions may still be stuck in that moment from childhood,”; revealing how the trauma shaped Yi Na’s unique persona.
In the teaser, Yi Na says she doesn’t remember anything from that day. Criminal profiler Kim Yoon Hee, who consulted on the series, notes, “Memory loss after a traumatic event isn’t unusual. Sometimes memories don’t surface until much later. Considering she experienced being at a murder scene in high school, the trauma would be enormous.”; As Yi Na continues to question herself while searching for the truth, viewers are left wondering whether she’ll be able to solve the puzzle and break free from her haunting past.
Meanwhile, the profiling report on Kim Han Saem reveals a detective consumed by obsession. The case was his first as an officer and remains unresolved a decade later. “That’s why he’s become so obsessed with the case and desperate to catch the killer,”; says Son Suk Ku, shedding light on Han Saem’s unshakable resolve.
Director Yoon Jong Bin describes Han Saem as someone “who pushes forward with his convictions, even when challenged by his superiors,”; adding to the anticipation around the character’s bold pursuit of justice. Han Saem’s line, “Let me ask you again. Did you kill him, Yoon Yi Na?”; captures the simmering tension between the two as they navigate a reluctant cooperation toward uncovering the truth.
