A STAR of This Morning has admitted she hid her pregnancy from show bosses amid fears she’d ‘lose her job’.
The ITV show has a roster of presenters who appear, including main hosts and .
also appears on the programme , and first presented the show when she was 20 weeks pregnant with her first child.
However, she has admitted she kept her pregnancy a secret as she felt she had “something to prove”;.
Sian, 38, told the latest episode of ‘s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast: “When you first start a job, you think ‘nobody knows what I’m actually like, that I’m trustworthy’ and you have to prove yourself.
“I felt like I had proven myself, that I can do this and that. When I got that first cover with Dermot [O’Leary], I knew I was pregnant but I didn’t tell anyone.”;
Sian added she didn’t tell her co-host Dermot or anyone else on the This Morning team, with only her family and friends knowing at that point.
She continued: “In the back of my mind I was thinking ‘if I tell them I’m pregnant, will this put them off getting me in again?’ And will they think ‘Oh she’s gonna be off for ages?’
“I am sure so many women in any job, especially if they are starting a new one they must think ‘I have just got this new job and I can’t tell them that I’m pregnant’.
“It’s the fear that you’re going to be immediately judged or dropped or they’ll go ‘Oh why you didn’t tell us because that is really inconvenient for us now.’
“You feel like that, you’re like this is so natural and normal why and I feeling so bad of it and so bad about it.”;
Sian managed to conceal her bump in “quite forgiving”; outfits, but faced another hurdle the following week on a photo shoot.
She said: “It was stressful because I still hadn’t publicly said anything.”;
But she joked: “You can’t breath in a baby bump! But I tried.”;
Sian went on to with her fiance Jake Beckett in June last year.
