Taraba Govt begins recertification of land titles

Published on May 18, 2025 at 01:34 PM

The governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has directed the recertification of all Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) across the state.

The initiative, according to the governor, is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that all land documents are current and comply with updated regulations.

A statement issued on Sunday by the Director General of Taraba Geographic Information System (TAGIS), Dr. Joshua Maaku Mark, said the exercise will run for a period of six months. It will be conducted by TAGIS.

Property owners are required to visit the TAGIS headquarters – formerly Bureau of Land and Survey – to complete the recertification process.

He emphasized the importance of compliance, warning that late fees will be imposed on those who fail to recertify within the six-month window.

“We urge all landed property owners to take this opportunity seriously and ensure timely recertification to avoid penalties,”;; Mark said.
