Sanusi arrested for alleged possession of fake currency

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Sanusi Ahmed, suspected of circulating counterfeit currency within the state.

Ahmed, a resident of Sokoto Rima quarters in Katsina, was apprehended on May 8, 2025, after police received credible intelligence regarding his alleged involvement in financial crime.

During a search of his residence, officers recovered:

345 pieces of counterfeit $100 US bills, 5 pieces of fake 10,000 CFA notes, 2 bottles containing suspected charms, 1 empty bottle of perfume and 1 white cloth

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who added that the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the officers involved and acknowledged the role of the community in supporting law enforcement. He assured the public of continued efforts to protect residents and maintain peace across Katsina State.

The police also encouraged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
