Russia blames ‘Western sponsors’ as Ukraine’s attack kills 7

Published on May 01, 2025 at 07:09 PM

Russia has accused Western countries of arming Ukraine to target its territories following a drone attack at a crowded market in the town of Aleshki, Kherson Region.

The foreign ministry, in a statement on Thursday, announced that seven civilians were killed and more than twenty sustained injuries.

The ministry stated that a second wave of drone attacks was launched, “deliberately targeting”; survivors and emergency responders who had arrived at the scene.

Russia described the “heinous attack”; as “another grave war crime”; committed by the Ukrainian Nazis against its civilian population, timed to coincide with a public holiday.

According to the statement, the attack reveals the true nature of the Kyiv regime and its commitment to escalating the conflict while actively undermining all prospects for a peaceful resolution.

Russia accused the “current Ukrainian neo-Banderite leadership”; of continuing to demonstrate a complete unwillingness to engage in dialogue.

“Today’s criminal act by Kiev thugs also lies on the conscience of their Western sponsors, who continue to provide them with weapons and financial support,”; the statement reads.

Russia said that behind the claims by Ukraine and “its Western backers”; to restore Ukraine within its 1991 borders lies a deeply hostile agenda aimed at erasing all that is Russian.

The federation vowed that such a scenario will never be allowed to materialise, adding that those responsible for the latest “barbaric act”; committed by Ukraine will face justice.
