HEARTFELT tributes have poured in for a rugby player who died after collapsing during the Great Bristol Run as he was pictured for the first time.
Jon Devereux, 28, collapsed during the half-marathon event on Sunday and sadly passed away in hospital.
Tynedale RFC, who Jon used to play for, said in a post: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of former playerJonDevereux.
“Jonsuffered a heart attack while taking part in yesterday’s Bristol Half Marathon.
“Jonhad an infectious character which came to the fore when he joined the Tynedale touring party to Canada last year.
“He was a regular participant in our annual 7’s competition.
“He will be greatly missed by all of us. Our condolences go out to all his family and friends.

A statement from thesaid: “It is with great sadness that The Great Run Company confirms the death of a participant at the Great Bristol Run on Sunday, May 11 2025.
“Jon Devereux, aged 28,during the event, received immediate medical treatment, and later passed away in hospital.
“His next of kin have been informed.
“The entire team involved in organising the GreatRun extends their heartfelt condolences to Mr Devereux’s family and friends.
“In accordance with the wishes of the family, no further details will be released.
“The cause of death will be determined later, pending medical examination.”;;
This year’s event took place on May 11 and had sold out.
The route takes runners on a scenic tour of the city’s history.
Runners start at Anchor Road and Canons Way before jogging past green spaces like Castle Park and Green Square.
