MBC’s upcoming drama “A Head Coach’s Turnover”;; has dropped new stills!
“A Head Coach’s Turnover”;; is a comedy about professional basketball coach Maeng Gong (Park Sung Woong), who faces the risk of being fired due to his team’s poor performance. To turn things around, he unexpectedly teams up with his own online hater Hwa Jin (Park Soo Oh).
At the heart of the story is the cross-generational bromance between Park Sung Woong and Park Soo Oh. Park Sung Woong plays Maeng Gong, the head coach of the pro basketball team Big Pandas, who is on the verge of missing the playoffs for a third straight year. Park Soo Oh plays Go Hwa Jin, a high school student with basketball knowledge rivaling the pros. Their bond offers both lighthearted moments and surprising emotional depth.
A key highlight of the drama is the evolving relationship between the two leads. Driven by a desire for revenge, Go Hwa Jin becomes an online troll targeting Coach Maeng Gong. At first, they clash with mistrust and hostility. But as they begin to bond over basketball, they grow and learn from each other. Their journey goes beyond a typical coming-of-age story, delivering humor and heartfelt emotion.
The newly released stills capture their unique dynamic. One image shows the two in a tense standoff. Maeng Gong’s serious expression and wary eyes reveal his guarded stance, while Go Hwa Jin, dressed in a school uniform and casually sucking on a lollipop, stands confidently. The contrast adds an intriguing edge to their confrontation.
In another still, they sit across from each other in the same room. Maeng Gong appears deep in thought, exuding experience and authority. Meanwhile, Go Hwa Jin’s slightly annoyed expression hints at the emotional distance between them. This scene builds curiosity about how their relationship will develop.
The final still shows the two facing off on a basketball court. Go Hwa Jin holds a basketball while Maeng Gong stands opposite him, emphasizing basketball as their shared connection and setting the stage for their story to unfold through the sport.
The production team said, “The acting chemistry between Park Sung Woong and Park Soo Oh is at the heart of this project.”;; They added, “As their relationship grows, it will bring moments of laughter and genuine emotion. Park Sung Woong’s experience and depth, combined with Park Soo Oh’s fresh energy, create a surprising and powerful synergy that audiences can look forward to.”;;
