JTBC’s upcoming drama “Good Boy”; has unveiled a striking look at both the golden past and gritty present of its five main characters!
“Good Boy”; is a comic action drama that follows a group of former national athletes Yoon Dong Joo (Park Bo Gum), Ji Han Na (Kim So Hyun), Kim Jong Hyun (Lee Sang Yi), Go Man Sik (Heo Sung Tae), and Shin Jae Hong (Tae Won Suk)âwho become police officers through a special recruitment program. Swapping medals for badges, they take on a world full of corruption, deception, and injustice.
The newly released stills spotlight a dramatic “before and after”; transformation, capturing the contrast between the five “Goodvengers”; in their prime as national athletes and their present-day roles as police officers.
First up is Yoon Dong Joo, a former boxing champion and national hero who once basked in the glory of biting into his gold medal. Now a police officer recruited through the national athlete program, Dong Joo’s animal-like instincts and athletic prowess earned him high expectationsâbut the reality is far from smooth sailing. After causing a series of incidents, he’s been demoted to a rookie rank. Despite his cheerful and bold personality, he’s not just a hotheaded fighter; behind his fists lies a fiery sense of justice and a heart full of compassion.
Next is Ji Han Na, a sharp-shooting prodigy who swept major competitions since middle school. With her cool-headed precision, unshakable stance, and piercing gaze, she was once hailed as a “shooting goddess.”; Now a police officer, she longs to be in the field but instead finds herself used solely for PR purposes, wielding her gun in photo ops rather than against criminals.
Kim Jong Hyun, a former silver medalist in fencing, brings both brains and agility to the table. As a cool-headed elite who values logic and discipline, he once stood on the fencing strip with laser-sharp focus. Now donning a suit as part of the inspection team, he embodies a by-the-book style grounded in order and balance. Though principled and analytical, he carries a quiet warmth and a hidden void from his past.
Go Man Sik, a bronze medalist in wrestling, was once a symbol of grit and determination. These days, he channels that resilience into surviving the rough-and-tumble world of detective work. Thanks to years of experience and talent to appease higher-ups, he’s climbed the ranks to Senior Superintendent.
Shin Jae Hong, a former discus thrower known for his brute strength and solid technique, left behind the stadium lights to support his family. To carve out study time for promotions, he volunteers for a less intense role in traffic safety. Though diligent and deeply responsible in all areas of life, he’s currently doing his best to avoid active crime scenes with various excuses.
Together, these five unexpected comrades join forces under the Special Violent Crimes Unit. Once basking in the spotlight as national champions, they now face a different kind of battleâfighting for justice in a flawed world. With passion reignited and fists clenched, they’re ready to deliver knockout blows to society’s foul play.
The production team shared, “This is a story about youth with dazzling pasts as national athletes, now united under the police badge to fight the many ‘fouls’ of the world. As these individuals from different sports come together as one team, expect a colorful mix of unexpected twists, teamwork, and growth,”; adding, “Please also keep an eye on how the actors breathe life into their unique characters and how they come together as a true team.”;
