NNL: Akpabio FC, Barau FC stadiums shut, fined for hooliganism

The Nigeria National League, NNL, has imposed a fine of N3m on Godswill Akpabio FC for assault and intimidation of match officials.

The NNL also ordered the Uyo Township Stadium closed to fans for the remainder of the season.

Godswill Akpabio FC were found guilty of assault and intimidation of match officials during their matchday 15 encounter with Rovers FC, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

In another ruling, Barau FC have been fined N2m for the failure to control their fans in the game against Gombe United at the Dambatta Township Stadium.

Barau FC supporters committed an offence by throwing objects at the opponents technical area which caused some injuries and led to the abandonment of the match for 15 minutes.

A sum of N150, 000 was also asked to be paid for the medical expenses of the injured Gombe United’s staff.

Barau FC have also been ordered to play their home matches behind closed doors throughout this campaign.
