Nigeria doesn’t honour its heroes – Skales reacts to calls for youths to join military

Published on May 04, 2025 at 08:59 AM

Afrobeats star, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales has reacted to the calls by the Nigerian authorities urging youths to join the military.

DAILY POST reports that recently government officials and concerned groups and individuals have publicly appealed to youths to enrol in the Nigerian Army following a growing lack of interest among the nation’s youth.

Reacting to the appeals, Skales wondered why the youths were being asked to join the military when the country doesn’t honour its heroes, according to him.

He claimed that personnel of the Nigerian military are suffering.

On his X handle on Saturday, he wrote, “Nigeria don’t honor its hero’s and them dey ask you to join soldier ... meanwhile soldiers dey suffer lol.”;

His post earned backlash, with many accusing him of discouraging the youths from serving the country.

An X user @kheeng_diamond wrote, “You don’t want to serve the country and you are also discouraging those that want to? Stop viewing reality from your own perspective alone.”;

Reacting, Skales wrote, “lol I’m representing my country with music na ... how much dem dey pay soldier again wey dey risk their live for all of us? Go join na.”;
