The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted a fuel tanker loaded with bags of cannabis along the Suleja-Kaduna road in Niger state.
In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the truck, with registration number ABJ 693 XU, had a concealed storage compartment used to transport 246 bags of cannabis — a variant known as skunk — weighing over 3,000 kilograms.
Three other vehicles conveying illicit substances were also intercepted in the same operation.
Four suspects were arrested: Christopher Onyema (47), Benedict Etineruba Young (54), Chukwudi Ujue Jerry (30), and Mohammed Abdullahi Danasabe.
In a separate incident, the NDLEA arrested one Ihensekhien Obehi at the Port Harcourt International Airport on May 3.
She allegedly attempted to smuggle cocaine by concealing it in her private parts, her stomach, and a modified section of her handbag.
Obehi was said to have ingested 67 pellets and hidden three more internally.
“The total weight of the three drug consignments found on her was 2.523 kilograms,”;; Babafemi said.
At Lagos International Airport, the agency also arrested a 22-year-old British national, Campbell Slifer, found with two suitcases allegedly filled with cannabis.
