National Sports Festival: Represent Osun with pride — Adeleke charges athletes

Governor Ademola Adeleke has charged Osun athletes to represent the state with pride during the forthcoming National Sports Festival.

Adeleke gave this charge at a reception to welcome the National Sports torch in Osogbo.

The symbolic torch was received by Adeleke through his Deputy, Kola Adewusi, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports.

The reception event which took place at the Government House in Osogbo, saw representatives from the National Sports Commission in attendance to oversee the proceedings.

Addressing attendees, Adeleke said, “This torch symbolises our shared identity and purpose. I urge all our athletes to give their best and demonstrate the unity and strength of Nigeria.

“We are not only preparing our athletes to compete. We are also building the infrastructure and systems that can support sports excellence now and in the future.”;;

He cited the ongoing remodelling of Osogbo Stadium as a key initiative, describing it as part of the administration’s broader agenda for sports development in the state.

“Our plans also include improved welfare for athletes and frameworks for hosting events of national and international scope,”;; he noted.

The Gateway Games is scheduled to take place from 15th to 29th May, 2025.
