LaLiga: Barcelona crowned champions after 2-0 win over Espanyol

Published on May 16, 2025 at 05:05 AM

Barcelona were on Thursday night confirmed champions of LaLiga, after they defeated local rivals Espanyol 2-0.

Lamine Yamal was again the talisman for the Catalans, as they lifted their 28th league title.

Yamal curled an unstoppable effort past Joan Garcia to open the scoring in the second half.

The 17-year-old then teed up Fermin Lopez for a second goal late in the match.

The win means Real Madrid cannot catch Barca at the top of the table, as they are now seven points clear with two fixtures left.

Hansi Flick’s men have now completed a superb domestic treble.

It is also their second title in six years.

Barcelona could have sealed their title triumph on Wednesday night, but Real Madrid netted a 95th-minute winner against Mallorca to delay the inevitable.
