The Managing Director of the Kano State Housing Corporation, Alhaji Abdullahi Rabi’u, has issued a stern warning to staff of the agency, cautioning them against engaging in unauthorized allocation of corner shops and residential houses across the state.

Speaking during a strategy meeting with directors of the Corporation at its new headquarters in Kwankwasiyya City, Rabi’u made it clear that the agency will enforce Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s directives on transparency, accountability, and compliance with lawful procedures in all land-related matters.

A statement issued by the Corporation’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Ismail Garba Gwammaja, confirmed that the MD used the session to remind staff—especially those handling land matters—to operate within the law and uphold the governor’s position on illegal allocations in both urban and rural parts of the state.

“The meeting aims to further sensitise directors, and review existing laws and policies for the Housing Corporation to operate based on the laid down rules and regulations and within its mandate,”;; Gwammaja stated.

Rabi’u stressed the importance of following due process and warned all staff to avoid any form of land racketeering.

“You recall that Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf has enacted an executive order prohibiting the allocation of land for curbside shops or corner shops under any guise, aiming to curb illegal land allocations and protect public spaces,”;; he said.

He emphasized that the state government remains firmly committed to the rule of law and safeguarding public interest, adding that, “this initiative demonstrates the government’s determination to promote good governance and accountability in the management of public resources.”;;

The MD also praised the dedication and professionalism of the Corporation’s workforce, noting that their contributions are vital to the current administration’s success.

He urged staff to “maintain the tempo towards achieving the organisational goals.”;;
