The Grand Khadi of Jigawa State, Khadi Sani Salihu, has summoned a Shari’a court judge along with several court staff over cases of absenteeism uncovered during a surprise inspection.

The revelation came through a statement issued Thursday in Dutse by the Director of Publicity and Protocol of the Jigawa State Judiciary, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara.

According to the statement, the inspection is part of broader efforts to enhance transparency and accountability within the Shari’a court system.

The Grand Khadi personally led the unscheduled inspection team, accompanied by the Acting Chief Registrar of the Shari’a Court of Appeal, Kabiru Gumel.

Rhe team visited multiple courts, including the Yalwan Damai Shari’a Court and the Higher and Upper Shari’a Courts in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

During the visit, several court personnel were found absent without official leave or prior notification, a development that prompted immediate disciplinary measures.

Those involved were ordered to report directly to the Grand Khadi’s office to account for their absence.

“The judiciary operates on integrity and diligence,”;; Khadi Salihu declared. “Any act of negligence or absenteeism without justification will not be tolerated, as it directly affects the public’s trust in the justice system.”;;

Beyond addressing attendance issues, the Grand Khadi used the opportunity to review the functionality and operational standards of the courts, inspect infrastructure, and engage directly with staff regarding their working conditions.

While expressing concern over the lapses observed, he also commended the dedication of many court officials encountered during the inspection. He urged them to continue exemplifying the principles of justice, fairness, and professional ethics that the judiciary stands for.
