The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has apprehended Bashir Bello Ibrahim, a former contractor for the Kaduna State Government and CEO of Formal Act Legacy Limited, over allegations of orchestrating a massive N30 billion fraud scheme.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, in a statement, Ibrahim’s contract with the state government had been terminated, yet he still managed to deceive numerous victims.
He alleged that Ibrahim posed as a consultant for Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas and falsely claimed affiliation with the United Charity Foundation (UCF), FICCORD, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office.
Oyewale explained that Ibrahim allegedly informed victims of a 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kaduna State Government, supposedly aimed at sourcing intervention grants from global donor agencies for local projects and supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state.
“Though Ibrahim’s contract with the state government has been terminated, the EFCC received no fewer than 251 complaints against him,”;; the EFCC added.
