A TEENAGER has been charged after a knife incident saw a school go into lockdown and two people rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to Manshead CE Academy in Dunstable Road, Caddington, Bedfordshire, at around 1.40pm to reports of a student believed to be in possession of a knife.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with causing grievous bodily harm without intent, actual bodily harm and threatening a person with a bladed article on school premises.

He has been remanded into custody ahead of a court hearing at Luton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, 5 May).

Two people injured in the incident have both been discharged from hospital – their injuries are not deemed to be life threatening or changing.

Officers will remain in the area over the coming days to provide ongoing support to the school and local community.
