Banditry:  Lawmaker calls for swift completion of Zango Kataf bridge to aid security response

Published on May 18, 2025 at 06:02 PM

The lawmaker representing Zango Kataf and Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Amos Gwamna, has called on the federal government to expedite the construction of a critical bridge across River Kaduna in Zango Kataf Local Government Area.

The unfinished bridge, which links crisis-affected communities such as Kigudu, Kampani, Chibob, and Sabon Kaura, has become a major concern due to repeated bandit attacks in the region.

In an interview with AIT News, Gwamna stressed that the bridge is essential for enabling quicker deployment of security forces during emergencies and could significantly improve the safety of residents.

He also emphasized the potential economic benefits of completing the project, saying it would enhance access to farmland, promote irrigation, and stimulate agricultural productivity.

Describing the current state of road infrastructure as deplorable, Gwamna warned that continued delays have already resulted in the loss of lives and property. He urged the federal government to act without further delay.
