APC nullifies Abia State Secretary, acting Ward chairman’s suspension

Published on April 23, 2025 at 07:38 AM

The suspension slammed on the Abia State Secretary of All Progressive Congress, Chidi Avajah and acting Chairman of Ahiaukwu Ward 2 Umuahia South LGA, has been cancelled by the State chapter of the APC.

Declaring the suspension null and void, State Chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu said that the suspension, reportedly carried out by a group within Ahia-Ukwu Ward 2, contravened Section 31, subsection 5(iii) of the APC constitution.

Ononogbu made it clear that members should strictly adhere to APC's constitution in their actions, saying that for disciplinary measures to be applied, they must follow the due process as outlined by the party's guiding document.

The APC Chairman, however, said that the State Working Committee, SWC, will summon all the parties involved in the Ahiaukwu Ward 2 matter to ensure that fair hearing is given to every side.

It would be recalled that some members of Ahiaukwu Ward 2 of Olokoro Umuahia South LGA last week, announced the suspension of Chidi Avajah and Sylvester Onyekwere, the acting Chairman of the Ward, claiming that Avajah violated the APC constitution, even as they alleged that Onyekwere impersonated as acting Chairman.
