Anthony Cacace vs Leigh Wood: Start time, TV channel, live stream, undercard for huge Nottingham homecoming

Published on May 08, 2025 at 10:25 AM

LEIGH WOOD is back fighting THIS WEEKEND with his 18-month hiatus now over!

The popular Nottingham fighter will face Anthony Cacace in front of his home fans with the Irishman’s IBO super-featherweight title up for grabs.

Wood is one of the most exciting British fighters around after injury setbacks.

He has moved up in weight and faces a daunting prospect in Cacace, who has proved himself as one of the best super-featherweights around.

The Apache scored impressive wins against Joe Cordina and enters this fight as the heavy favourite.

However, he has been accused of ducking Eduardo Nunez after giving up his IBF title to face Wood instead of the Mexican, who was mandatory challenger for that belt.

Both men will be desperate for victory, with a unification fight later on in the year a possibility for the winner.

Huge Nottingham Forest fan Wood also wants to fight at the City Ground.

Liam Davies is also moving up in weight and faces a tough task against Irish Olympian Kurt Walker as he looks to build to another world title shot.

What’s been said?

Asked about his game plan for Cacace, Wood told The Ring: “Whichever way you want it.

“I prefer that way but I’d like to consider myself as someone that gets the job done regardless of the circumstances.

“If everything’s going my way, I’ll get the job done. If things aren’t going my way, guess what? I’ll get the job done.

“I think a great fighter will always adapt to what’s in front of them.

“Regardless of which path it goes down they manage to pull it out of the bag regardless.

“But ideally, yes. Stick to the game plan, stick to what’s working, what we’re practising, pull out a clinical performance.”;

Cacace, meanwhile, spoke about the Nunez situation: “I’m not ducking anyone, you know what I mean?

“These are people who are listening to the likes of Eddie Hearn [Nunez’s promoter] and these type of men and promoters.

“The facts are that the money was 100 per cent better.

“I’m 36 years of age. I’ve got three children.

“If I was 28 and the money was the same for that Mexican, I’d have fought him in his back garden.

“Call me a duck, call me whatever you want. I don’t give a s***.”;
