The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday, hosted a stakeholders’ dialogue with international development partners, diplomatic missions, and key institutional stakeholders at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The engagement is part of ongoing efforts to drive comprehensive reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The strategic engagement, held in collaboration with the Police Reform Secretariat, PRS, brought together representatives of the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, UN Women, the British High Commission, the Governments of Germany, Spain, and Slovakia, the National Institute for Police Studies, NIPS, and other development organisations committed to supporting policing reforms in Nigeria.

Speaking during the dialogue, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to building a modern, professional, intelligence-led, and accountable institution rooted in the rule of law, respect for human rights, and community partnership.

He noted that the ongoing reforms is aimed at transforming the Force into a technology-driven and citizen-focused institution capable of responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.

In his remarks, the Head of the Police Reform Secretariat, Professor Olu Ogunsakin, highlighted key pillars of the ongoing reform agenda, including legal and policy reforms, election security management, leadership development, strategic stakeholder engagement, oversight systems, and community trust-building initiatives.

Ogunsakin stressed the importance of international partnerships in supporting sustainable policing reforms and institutional capacity development.
