Fulani group reacts to move by Nigerian govt, FAO to digitize Nigeria’s agricultural sector

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has commended the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for their collaborative efforts to digitalize Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

KACRAN’s National President, Khalil Mohd Bello, gave the commendation in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Damaturu.

Bello said the strategic move is a vital step towards modernizing agriculture and ensuring food and nutritional security for all Nigerians.

According to him, the FAO’s Digital Village Initiative (DVI) Inception Workshop, held in Lagos from May 7–9, 2025, established a collaborative roadmap to digitize agricultural value chains, strengthen farmer data systems, curb post‑harvest losses, and drive innovation through pilot projects like AI‑pest control and solar cold hubs.

He said the engagement was attended by over 100 stakeholders—including government officials, agri‑tech startups, research institutions, and farming communities—to co‑design the National Integrated Digital Agriculture Platform (NIDAP).

“The workshop, which brought together high-caliber scientists, yielded significant research findings and innovative solutions.

“KACRAN believes that the implementation of these recommendations will undoubtedly multiply Nigeria’s agricultural output,”; Bello said.

The National President commended the nation’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, for his zeal, passion, and commitment during the inception workshop, which instilled new hope among Nigeria’s pastoralists and farmers, signaling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to boosting agricultural productivity.

“KACRAN extends its highest commendation and deepest appreciation to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, under the able leadership of its Representative in Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Kouacou Dominique Koffy.

“Mr Koffy and his team demonstrated exceptional coordination and made excellent presentations during the workshop, contributing significantly to the compilation of research outcomes submitted to FAO for consideration and implementation,”; he added.
