On Monday, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara welcomed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and his team to the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The NSA was joined by the Minister of Works, David Umahi; the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal; and the Director-General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, Chukwuemeka Woke.
The delegation is in Rivers State to conduct a high-level inspection of significant sites.
Their itinerary includes reviewing ongoing work on the East-West Road, visiting the Yorla Oilfield spill site in the Kpean Community, and stopping at the University of Environmental Technology in Ogoni, the Gokana Oil Facility and Hospital at K-Dere, the Industrial Park site, and Taabaa General Hospital.
Governor Fubara commended the delegation for their collaborative efforts in managing the oil spill and safeguarding affected communities.
He also called on the federal government to exercise patience with the local population regarding the resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland.
