The Federal Fire Service has clarified that vehicles seen in a viral video during the homecoming of Controller-General Olumode Adeyemi in Kabba, Kogi State, belonged to senior officers and were misconstrued as part of his official convoy.
DAILY POST recalls that a video showing a large motorcade accompanying Adeyemi during a visit to Kogi stirred debate on social media over the use of scarce resources.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Service’s National Public Relations Officer, Paul Abraham, the agency said the Controller-General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support.
The Service explained that the additional vehicles observed in the footage belonged to Deputy Controllers-General, Assistant Controllers-General, and other senior officers who attended the April 3, 2026, homecoming organised by the Bunu Progressive Forum.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Controller-General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support,” according to the statement.
It added that the presence of the officers formed part of the Service’s management team, noting that their attendance was deliberate to ensure adequate coordination and security coverage for senior officers at the high-profile gathering.
The Service said the event, held in Kabba, was organised to celebrate Adeyemi’s appointment and to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for deeming him worthy of the office of Controller-General.
The statement noted that the Controller-General described the reception as a demonstration of unity and support while reiterating the Service’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public engagement.
