A FIEND raped a stranger in a racist sex attack after breaking into her home because he believed she was Muslim.

John Ashby, 32, “targeted” the Sikh woman on a bus then followed her to the property in Walsall, .

The brute barged in and subjected her to a terrifying, racially-motivated attack where she was raped, strangled and assaulted.

Ashby claimed he was a “British master” as he hurled racist abuse at the woman and called her a “bloody Muslim b***h”.

In a video interview played to court, the victim told police: “He had a stick in his hand. I said ‘who are you’ and I started screaming.

“He switched off the light. He said ‘I just want fun with you’. He said ‘you are a f***ing Muslim b***h’, I said ‘I am not a Muslim, I am a Sikh’.”

The fiend forced the woman into a bath tub naked and began pouring hot water on her.

After raping her in the bathroom, Ashby then demanded she go in the bedroom and lie on the bed.

The horror only ended when Ashby was “spooked” by a noise outside and fled – taking some of the woman’s jewellery and her mobile phone.

Ashby was on trial at Crown Court accused of rape, robbery, intentional strangulation and religiously aggravated assault.

He today changed his plea after he was told to “sort your s**t out” by a member of the public who approached the dock.

Prosecutors told the court there could be no doubt Ashby was the man who attacked the woman, citing DNA evidence, fingerprints found on a vape and the fact he was picked out by the victim at an identity parade.

CCTV footage also placed Ashby near the scene, where he picked up the two-foot long stick he used to scare the victim.

Adjourning the case for sentence on Friday, Mr Justice Pepperall warned Ashby that he was considering the imposition of a life sentence.

He added: “It seems to me that a stranger who breaks into a woman’s house, who commits these offences and does so expressing hostility to her on the basis of her presumed religion is a dangerous person.

“I don’t think I need a report to tell me that.

“I will be considering very carefully whether a life sentence is the right sentence in this case.”
