A new cable car has launched in the region, and it is the longest in the area.

Named Câble C1 or the Paris Téléphérique, it stretches 4.5 km, or 2.79 miles long.

The line features 105 gondolas, each accommodating up to 10 passengers, and it is projected to serve 11,000 riders daily.

This cable car is not merely a tourist attraction; it was designed as an alternative to the Metro.

Primarily, the line will be utilized by local residents. To ride the cable car, you only need a bus ticket or a travel pass that you would also use for the Metro, costing around €2 (£1.74).

The cable car aims to connect underserved southeastern suburbs such as Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.

While a road trip from Créteil to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges takes approximately 40 minutes, the cable car can cover the distance in just 18 minutes.

The route will soar over four municipalities in the region: Créteil, Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton, and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.

This marks the seventh urban cable car to debut in France , with a construction cost of €138 million (around £120.8 million).

While this may seem expensive, it is considerably less than the cost of building a new Metro line.
