EPL: Glen Johnson names two players Chelsea should sign

Former Chelsea player, Glen Johnson, has urged the Blues to re-sign World Cup star Jamal Musiala and Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo in January.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter will look to bolster his squad in his first transfer window in charge in January.

Chelsea spent more than £250million on new signings last summer but could splash more cash next month following the team’s tremble under Potter.

Potter’s side lost three Premier League games in a row before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.

They currently sit in the eighth position on the Premier League table, eight points outside the Champions League places.

“Cody Gakpo has really caught my eye at the World Cup,” Johnson told FairBettingSites.

“In terms of personnel, Chelsea need Gakpo more than Liverpool.

“Gakpo looks like he could do it in the Premier League, he looks like he would burst onto the scene like Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have for Liverpool.”

Johnson added: “I would like to see Jamal Musiala in a Liverpool or back in a Chelsea shirt, especially with the way he is playing at the moment. Most top teams would bite their arm off for him.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to battle Manchester United for Gakpo’s signature.
