EPL: Brentford manager hails brace hero Toney in dig at Haaland after City’s 2-1 loss

Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, has aimed a dig in the direction of Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland.

Frank claimed that he thought scoring a hat-trick was only meant for Haaland after the Norway international fired blank in Man City’s Premier League 2-1 loss to Brentford on Saturday.

The 49-year-old Danish said this while hailing his striker Ivan Toney for scoring a brace against Man City at Etihad as Haaland, who had netted a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Man United this season, failed to score against Brentford.

According to him, Toney should have scored a hat-trick against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“Fantastic, I can’t praise him [Ivan Toney] enough. How good a person he is, his emotional intelligence with his teammates and everyone around the club,” Frank told BBC Sport after the match.

“But also, what a player! What a striker! He scored two and probably should have scored one more. A hat-trick here, I thought that was only for Haaland.”
