Former National Secretary of the now-defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD, Prof. Udenta O. Udenta, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of fabricating terror financing charges against Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
Udenta made this claim on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
“No one is above the law; no governor or president is exempt from investigation. Prosecution can take place even after an individual has left office.
“However, publicly investigating a sitting governor can distract from the governance of the state.
“The EFCC’s campaign against Bala Mohammed through the media, and the unjust criminalization of his image and reputation, is unacceptable.
“His name is constantly mentioned. In every instance of alleged terror financing, his name appears prominently for the world to see. The implications are global.
“If you remember, the judge instructed the EFCC to present these individuals to him three times. Each week, they create fabricated terror financing charges and involve the name of a sitting governor. Investigations can be conducted discreetly and quietly after the governor's term ends,” he stated.
