Mr Trump left the convention stage after speaking for around 52 minutes, to the tune of YMCA.
Mr Pence also appeared at the convention, delivering a brief speech. Playing on the 2016 campaign slogan, Mr Pence said: “We’re going to make American great again, again.”
Mr Trump’s family will take centre stage alongside the US president at this week’s convention with all four of his adult children being given speaking slots.
Ivanka, Eric, Donald Jr and even 26-year-old Tiffany Trump have been scheduled to address the convention, one of the most important political events between now and the election .
Mr Trump’s wife Melania, the first lady, is also giving a speech as well as the partners of two children – Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former Fox News host who is dating Don Jr, and Lara Trump, the wife of Eric.
The only member of the immediate Trump family not to be on the list of convention speakers was Barron Trump, who is 14 and lives with his parents in the White House.
The presence of some many Trumps on the speakers list underscores the key role that relatives play in the current US president’s administration and business empire.
