Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended Delta lawmakers for their wisdom, oversight, and representation, which have strengthened the state and deepened its democracy.
He stated this on Sunday at a thanksgiving service marking the 2nd Anniversary of the 8th Assembly, held at Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Asaba.
He said the strong synergy between the executive, legislature, and judiciary was essential for impactful governance.
“Your wisdom, oversight, and representation have strengthened our state and deepened democracy.
“The collaboration has driven progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and youth empowerment”; he noted.
While commending the State House of Assembly for its steadfast legislative contributions to the development of the state, he thanked the Assembly for acknowledging divine guidance in its work, describing the thanksgiving as the most significant part of the anniversary.
“It is truly heartwarming to see you recognize the place of the divine in your affairs. Lawmakers must depend on God for wisdom and guidance,”; he said.
The Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor, called the day a moment of thanksgiving and reflection on the privilege of serving over five million Deltans.
He expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the Assembly’s Second Session.
Pastor Olufemi Olumide of RCCG Region 34, during his sermon, emphasized the power of thanksgiving in honoring God and fulfilling spiritual vows.
Making reference to Psalm 116:16-19, Pastor Olumide described thanksgiving as a divine command and a means of attracting restoration and divine favor.
He warned against pride and cited Nebuchadnezzar as a cautionary example of failing to acknowledge God.
“Thanksgiving is a spiritual medicine. It cleanses the soul from pride, false independence, and foolishness,”; he said.
