The Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in partnership with Operation Whirlwind, has successfully intercepted various prohibited items valued at N109.6 million over the past three weeks.
Comptroller Mahmoud Ibrahim revealed this information during a press conference held at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, stating that these seizures are part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and safeguard the national economy.
He detailed that the confiscated items consist of 100 bales of second-hand clothing, 444 laptops, numerous packages of cannabis sativa, 143 mini sacks of donkey meat, 140 cartons of imported spaghetti, 100 bags of imported parboiled rice, and 20 jerry cans of vegetable oil, all with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N109,595,761.
Ibrahim also shared plans to undertake a thorough inspection of border stations in Kamba, Dolekaina, Bagudo, Maje, Sabgana/Tsamiya, and Lolo, aiming to evaluate operations and identify challenges directly.
