The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has declared that rotational chairmanship of Oyo State Council of Obas between three major traditional rulers in the state is in the right direction.

CCII President -General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole said this while addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Ibadan House located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

DAILY POST reports that the Oyo State House of Assembly had on Tuesday passed the Oyo State Chieftaincy Law (Further Amendment) 2025 into law.

The Oyo State Chieftaincy Law 2000 had made the Alaafin of Oyo a permanent Chairman of the council.

But the new bill which has been passed into law on Tuesday provides that the Chairmanship of the council be rotated among the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Alaafin of Oyo and Soun of Ogbomoso.

Ajewole at the press event noted that the new bill which has been passed into law was done on the interest of peace, justice and fairness and commended the State House of Assembly for passing the bill into law.

He said that the Assembly acted in line with the reality. “The bill which has been passed into law is in line with justice, equity and fairness. The Oyo State House of Assembly did the right thing.

“We want to thank the House of Assembly and the lawmakers for passing the bill into law.

“Peace in inequality is chaos postponed but peace in tranquility is peace forever. We equally thank the governor Seyi Makinde, for allowing the State House of Assembly to do their job”;;.
