The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has stated that the Nigerian Army will persist in pursuing both kinetic and non-kinetic operations to enhance the security situation throughout the nation.

Shaibu made this commitment during the inauguration of a 36-classroom Government Day Girls’ Secondary School, which was upgraded by Maj-Gen. Mamman Galadima, as part of the Army’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation project in Maradun, Zamfara, on Thursday.

“I reaffirm that under my leadership, the Nigerian Army will continue to engage in both kinetic and non-kinetic operations in collaboration with other security agencies and well-meaning citizens to enhance the security situation nationwide,” Shaibu stated.

“The relationship between the people and the Army should be collaborative because the people rely on the Army, and the Army cannot achieve the desired impact without the support of the populace.”

“Thus, I encourage Nigerians to maintain their trust in the Army and to continue supporting our efforts,” Shaibu added.

The Army chief was represented at the event by Maj.-Gen. WB Idris, Commander of the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, Operation PANSAYAN YAMMA (OPYA), Gusau, Zamfara.

Speaking on the project, Shaibu remarked, “Today, we recognize and honor the exemplary and unblemished service of Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima through the inauguration of this initiative.”

“The Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects were conceived to support communities linked to Nigerian Army senior officers who, through dedication and service to the nation, have achieved the esteemed rank of Major-General.”

“I am pleased that today, Zamfara is fortunate to have a highly respected senior officer of the Nigerian Army, in the person of Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima.”

According to him, the Nigerian Army views the people as essential partners in progress.

Shaibu stated that these projects also serve the strategic purpose of encouraging communities to sustain their support for our operations and other endeavors.

The COAS explained that the Nigerian Army’s strategy of collaborating with benefiting communities at all stages of such projects would ensure strong local interest and foster a sense of ownership of the initiative.

He expressed gratitude to the Government and the people of Zamfara, particularly the residents of Maradun, for their continued support of the Nigerian Army.

However, Shaibu urged the people of Zamfara to remain proactive in providing timely and useful information to assist security agencies in the state, ensuring a safe and secure environment for socio-economic activities to flourish.

He assured that the Army would continue to collaborate with the government at all levels to address the current security challenges across the country.
