Typically, a hotel stay in this area can cost hundreds of pounds per night.

For instance, a night at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in January could cost around £390, while another hotel might charge approximately £940.

Fortunately, there is excellent news for those seeking a budget-friendly alternative, as a brand new Zedwell hotel has opened on this iconic street.

The unique feature of this hotel is that it is entirely underground.

The new Zedwell Underground Park Lane offers 133 ‘cocoons’, each without a window.

The rooms are soundproof and include “ambient lighting, purified air, and body-cushioning mattresses,” as stated by the hotel.

Each ‘cocoon’ also provides complimentary Wi-Fi and an en-suite bathroom equipped with a rainfall shower.

Located just five minutes from Marble Arch tube station, guests can utilize automated self check-in kiosks upon arrival.

For those working during their stay in the city, there is even a co-working space with a view.

A ‘cocoon’ starts at £67.68 per night for two people, which amounts to £33.84 per person.

This hotel represents Zedwell’s second location, with the first being the first underground hotel in England, located on

Halima Aziz, head of at Criterion, remarked: “Zedwell is centered around a straightforward concept: providing excellent sleep in prime locations at an affordable rate, making city centers and luxury neighborhoods like Mayfair accessible to everyone.

“Zedwell Underground embodies our brand principles and our capability to transform complex urban spaces into valuable assets in the heart of the city.

“This launch reinforces our dedication to high-quality design, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service, while we continue to expand the Zedwell brand in key locations.”

Zedwell is recognized for its budget accommodation and recently opened another location in Piccadilly Circus over the summer, with rates around £30 per night.

A travel writer noted, “The interior, featuring a modern concrete and timber design, includes nearly 1,000 individual sleep capsules across five floors.

“This setup offers a novel approach as each guest enjoys the privacy and security of being nestled in their capsule, which can be locked from the inside.

“At first glance, the dorm rooms, which are minimalist and dimly lit, resembled a car park or storage unit.

“It’s not what you’d typically expect from a hotel room, so it takes a little getting used to.”

“However, upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find a charming little space, complete with mood lighting and inviting interiors.

“Surprisingly, it didn’t feel as cramped as I had anticipated – as a 5’5” woman, I could sit up and stretch my legs comfortably.

“Even more astonishingly, I had a fantastic night’s sleep, without any rowdy guests or loud conversations interrupting the tranquility.”
