CHARLEY HULL believes women like her have every chance of lining up alongside or against the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the future, thanks to TGL.

Tomorrow’s League was founded by and in 2022 and the women’s version of the sophisticated indoor game is set to launch this year.

SunSport asked the British number one if she hopes to play alongside the golfing greats one day in this new environment.

Hull said: “Definitely. I think it’s an honor to be placed on the same tier as the men and to play in the same arena as them.

“It’s a good first step, and you never know, a mixed event could be something that we do in the future.”

, a two-time Olympian and four-time Major runner-up, is sitting a career-high fifth in the world at present as the 29-year-old goes from strength to strength.

The Kettering-born star is currently in Saudi Arabia preparing to compete in the PIF Saudi Ladies International at Riyadh Golf Club where a prize pot of $5 million – the same sum on offer to the men – is up for grabs.

Given Saudi Arabia‘s late arrival to women’s rights, Hull is enthused about the progress the country has made in recent years and happy to play a part in it.

Hull said: “It’s pretty cool. Golf wasn’t a major focus here ten years ago, but in the six years since we started coming here, the social difference is visible, and so it’s clear that what they are putting in place are working.

The message in the prize pot is simple – it’s equality for women and men competing in the Gulf State.

Hull believes it represents a fine step for the game, but she understands why the gap between the genders in the sport exists.

“It’s pretty cool, matching the men’s tournament. I think it’s a good step in the right direction, because it actually brings a lot more eyes to this event.

“Obviously, it’s a lot harder with women’s and men’s sports being equal, because obviously, a lot more people watch men’s sports, so it’s a lot more appealing for sponsors to sponsor the events that people watch more.

“But I think it’s a really good stepping stone that Golf Saudi has done this, and it is bringing a lot of eyes to this event.

A field of 120 players representing 32 nationalities will be teeing it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition in Riyadh.

Hull is set to tee off on Wednesday at 4:56 am UK time (7.56 am local time) alongside China’s Muni He and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.
