A mother’s bond with her daughter is usually one that is mutually deep and sincere. But when one mom was found dead in her home, police quickly pointed their finger at her 38-year-old daughter, Mollie Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald, a slowly growing name in the film industry, is known for her minor role in the movie “Captain America: The First Avenger”. The actress is accused of fatally stabbing her 68-year-old mother, Patricia “Tee” Fitzgerald, inside her suburban Olathe home in Kansas.
According to authorities at the Johnson County Sheriff’s department, Mollie was arrested after her mom was found dead in her own home on December 20. Police had responded to a domestic disturbance and found Patricia dead in her home. The younger Fitzgerald was then charged with second-degree murder and placed on a $500,000 bail while in jail. According to the Kansas City Star, she informed the judge in her court hearing that she will be representing herself.
Mollie’s film credentials go deeper than the minor role for which she is known. According to her IMDb page, she played the role of Stark Girl in Marvel Studios’, 2011 film, “Captain America,” but she also has producer/director experience including working as assistant to the 2011 Marvel film’s director, Joe Johnson. Fitzgerald also worked on other low-budget films like, “The Lawful Truth” in 2014 and “The Creeps” in 2017.
“Being a part of this production has been one of the best experiences of my life,” Fitzgerald said to a comic book publication in 2011, about her work on the Marvel film, which grossed a staggering $176.6 million in the U.S.

The Star also spoke to Gary Hunziker, Patricia Fitzgerald’s brother, who said that she had lived for several decades in the Houston area and was currently in the process of moving back to the Kansas City area.
Hunziker said that he didn’t know much about the details surrounding his sister’s death but added, “We were shocked. It doesn’t matter the circumstances — the loss of a sister is what it’s all about.”
Hunziker and his sister grew up on a farm in northeast Missouri. Patricia Fitzgerald attended the University of Missouri, where she studied physical therapy. She had moved back to the Kansas City area after, but later moved to Texas, where her husband had a law firm.
