The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, citing his disregard for lawful directives and his undermining of the governor's authority as the Chief Security Officer of the state.
Governor Yusuf made this appeal during a ceremony to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, which took place at Kofar Mata Stadium in the Kano metropolis.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, the governor claimed that police officers under CP Bakori's leadership failed to provide security for the event, despite the explicit instructions he personally communicated to the commissioner.
“The Commissioner of Police has embarrassed us with his actions,” Yusuf stated. “His conduct is unprofessional, unethical, and contrary to the expectations of a security chief on such a significant day for the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.”
The governor emphasized that the commissioner’s actions were intolerable, asserting that his ongoing presence in Kano creates obstacles to effective security coordination within the state.
