A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested after a woman was allegedly raped along a popular walking track.
The teenage boy allegedly attacked the woman on Parkland Walk, in Highgate, North London at 10.30pm on Tuesday evening.
He is being quizzed by detectives while being remanded in custody.
A scene remained in place at 2pm on Thursday with forensic officers gathering evidence at the scene.
The neighbourhood has been left reeling after the alleged attack which saw the teen arrested on suspicion of rape.
Oliver, a 32-year-old teacher who lives on the edge of the popular circular route, said: “This is very worrying. It’s a lovely neighbourhood and this is a huge shock.
“There have been forensics officers and loads of here.
“This is a nice family area, this is just obviously very concerning, and we need to know if it’s safe to use the park.”
Another local said: “There is petty crime in the park, but nothing like this.
“My kids play here, but I’ll have to put a stop to that.”
Detective Inspector Warren Ingrey, who is leading the , said:
“We are aware of the concern that the community will have following this incident.
“Police patrols have been increased in the area and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to officers.
“We would also encourage any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to please come forward as soon as possible.”
The Parkland Walk is London’s longest linear nature reserve at 4km in length.
It follows the former railway line connecting Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace.
