Kanye West’s “Donda” Will Totally Drop Next Week, Unless It Doesn’t

The post-apocalyptic little scene above is taken from Kanye West‘s second listening event for his tenth album, Donda, that took place on Thursday at his adopted new home, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. To the untrained eye, it looks like the management there finally got tired of taking his alleged $1,000,000 a day in rent for the bleak little hostage hovel he calls a room and punted his sorry ass out into the middle of the stadium. But a trained eye knows that Kanye is just trolling us all with the overhyped and under-delivered release of the album and that this whole protracted episode is really a just preview of his Yeezy F/W collection. Prove me wrong! He’s gone from a burglar stocking and neon-red puffer jacket to a gimp suit and now a Walmart sleeping bag on markdown from the Camping aisle. But still, Kanye keeps claiming that Donda will finally be released after several delays and its new release date is August 15.

Before we get into Donda’s ever-changing release date, here’s Kanye’s estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, who is totally in on this fashion charade and showed up to Listening Party #2 with their four children while decked out in a Balenciaga gimp suit of her own:

In one of the pics, those kids behind her look terrified at the sight of Kim looking like she’s headed for a cocktail-hour funeral for Catwoman held on one of the abandoned sound stages for Fifty Shades of Grey (and it would totally be the most interesting thing to ever happen on that set).

As for Donda’s new release date of August 15, Hypebeast is also side-eyeing it:

Originally, the first pre-order page went live on August 5 and listed the release date to be August 7. However, the keen eyes of fans have spotted that the DONDA release date changed to August 15 over the weekend. This is of course not the first time DONDA‘s release date has been pushed back.

Since the first listening party on July 23, the following three Fridays were left without an indication of whether or not the album would drop. After July 23, Justin LaBoy took to Twitter to announce that Ye had decided to push DONDA back to August 6. Others in the rapper’s close circle have also teased an August release date.

It remains to be seen if this August 15 will be the official release date for Kanye West’s DONDA.

Even Apple is losing hope:

People adds that Donda includes several lyrics of love for Kim:

On Thursday, the 44-year-old rapper held his second Donda listening party at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, revealing a new song on his 10th studio album — seemingly titled “Lord I Need You” — which references the couple’s ongoing divorce and the impact it’s had on him.

“Time and space is a luxury / But you came here to show that you’re still in love with me,” West rapped on the track, appearing to reference how Kardashian attended both of his listening events for the album with their children: daughters North, 8, and Chicago, 3, plus sons Saint, 5½, and Psalm, 2.

He also debuted updated lyrics to the song “Love Unconditionally,” which he initially previewed at the first listening event. At the first event, West rapped in the tune, “I’m losing my family.” But according to CNN and Buzzfeed, West raps in the new lyrics, “I’m losing all my family / Darling, come back to me.”

On the one hand, it’s sad that Kanye is taking the divorce from Kim so hard and struggling with more loss, but then there’s the other, more jaded hand that keeps saying, “dude, stop trying to revive a dead fly just because you found a bizarre sense of comfort in its inane and relentless buzzing.”

Here are some clips from the second listening event. Michael linked to Kanye’s levitation stunt, but in case you missed it, here’s Kanye being hoisted high above the ground from the sad little bedroom scene.

Wait… what was that? Samuel Beckett’s ghost is whooshing around the stadium and looking for Kanye’s room so it can glide through the door and scare the hell out of a passed-out Ye on his twin bed at 3:24 a.m., to rage-shriek that motherfucking Godot is going to arrive before this album ever does, and at this point, Sam wants the tricks handling his estate to have all future editions changed to Waiting for Godonda. I’d watch the hell out of that live-streamed train wreck and so would you.
