Joss Whedon Steps Away From HBO’s “The Nevers” Claiming “Exhaustion” But Ray Fisher Says It’s A Result Of The Warner Bros. Investigation

Joss Whedon was working on his newest show, The Nevers, for HBO, but he recently quit because he says he’s tired and needs a break. But Ray Fisher shit on that reason and believes Joss didn’t leave the show on his own. A few months ago, Ray, who played Cyborg in Justice League, accused Joss of being an abusive bastard after he took over directing duties from Zack Snyder on the JL movie. Since then, an investigation was opened up and WarnerMedia, which is HBO’s parent company, has been looking into the accusations against Joss. Ray seems to think that somebody’s tired alright and it’s WarnerMedia because they’re tired of Joss’s shit!

GameSpot says the HBO series, The Nevers, is “an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.” I will 100% be watching that because anything with a super-powered lady gang? Sign me up. But Joss won’t be a part of it anymore, and he gave this statement, via Variety:

“This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing the Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer. I am genuinely exhausted and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change. I am deeply proud of the work we have done; I’m grateful to all my extraordinary cast and collaborators, and to HBO for the opportunity to shape yet another strange world. The Nevers is a true labor of love, but after two plus years of labor, love is about all I have to offer. It will never fade.”

Ray Fisher called bullshit on Joss’s reason for leaving The Nevers and claims that Warner Bros. is balls-deep into their investigation, so the timing of Joss’s exit tells him that they found something bad and I don’t think he means Joss’ short-lived series Dollhouse.

HBO gave a statement and it doesn’t seem like they’re shedding any tears over Joss leaving:

“We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of The Nevers and look forward to its premiere.”

Well, it looks like Joss Whedon might be exposed soon. His ex-wife, Kai Cole, just cracked open a bottle of merlot.
