A BBC radio host was forced to apologise after the C-word was aired in a rogue clip.
Simon Parkin, hosting BBC Somerset‘s 10am-2pm show, was taken by surprise when a seemingly innocent clip from 60s kids’ TV show Trumpton dropped an unexpected swear.

He quickly interrupted to say: “Apologies that was a mistake there.”
Listeners were very amused by the blunder.
One wrote on X: “It’s Parkin’s best sitcom ‘Ooh!’ that elevates it.”
Another said: “Amazing [laughing emojis].”
A third wrote: “I don’t know why, but this has absolutely f**king killed me.”
A fourth questioned how the error came to pass, asking: “Was it clipped up by a BA? Why didn’t Simon not listen to it first? It wasn’t the voice of Brian Cant so it sounds like a parody, did a youngster who’d never heard of Trumpton just use the first clip they found? Parkin would have been mortified.”
The real Trumpton, a stop-motion show narrated by Brian Cant, is set in a fictional town and follows the goings on of its citizens.
Parkin segued into the clip, which proved to be a play on the show’s famous fire station roll call, after mentioning its fire brigade and that they “seldom put out a fire”.
The real roll call goes: “Pugh! Pugh! Barney McGrew! Cuthbert! Dibble! Grubb!”
But in the rude version, the creator had swapped Grubb for the C-word.
