The second hour of the pre-recorded programme was accidentally replaced by a repeat of the previous week’s episode leaving listeners annoyed.
Fans quickly took to social media to flag up the repeat – with some noting it isn’t the first time the station has slipped up.
The issued an apology and uploaded the correct version to BBC Sounds.
A BBC spokesperson told RadioToday : “Unfortunately, due to a scheduling error, the incorrect second hour of the show was broadcast today.
“We apologise to listeners and are currently looking into how this occurred. The correct programme is now available on BBC Sounds.”
Unhappy listeners wrote on social media: “It’s less than a year ago that they played the same show two weeks on the trot.
“I can understand having a skeleton crew on a Sunday but honestly?????”
“You can’t beat doing live,” noted a second.
“Again….”???!!!???????” an irritated fan stated.

“Wow, poor,” claimed another.
“The station gets worse by the day,” vented a user.
“Why is this hour of Elaine Paige on Sunday identical to last week’s show?! Very bizarre to repeat it just a week later,” asked a listener.
“I think your programming went a bit wrong there. You just played the last hour of Elaine’s show from last week!!” wrote another.
Another sadly recalled: “I remember when Terry Wogan’s death was reported on a Sunday morning.
“It betrayed the little known fact at the time that most of the programmes on R2 were pre recorded as no Sunday DJ made any mention of his death and it was announced that shows were pre-recorded to explain this.”
The episode had been teased by Elaine, who had written: “Today on #EPOS I’ll be turning back time to celebrate @cher’s big birthday!
“Also baking (Half Bread!?), & Jordan Luke Gage’s new musical, Redcliffe.
“Plus stage & screen news, your requests, Break A Leg messages & music! To be a part of a future episode, email me Elaine@bbc.co.uk.”
